Loopiote is a smart lantern 💡 that was created and build during a 4 day workshop around the subject of Artificial intelligence.
The idea was to create an object that is a demonstrator of how AI works, for example in a technology event open to anyone.
The lantern wakes up as soon as one’s take it, and explains that it is in learning mode, and wants you to point its camera at people and teach it if those people are nice or not that nice, through 2 buttons. Once that is done, a tap at the bottom of the lantern puts it in restitution mode, and through machine learning it is able to light in blue or red and tell you whether the new people you point at are nice or not, through attributes it learned before.
The lantern uses lights and a speaker to communicate feedbacks or give informations to the user.
The goal is to educate people on the importance and the process of supervised AI and machine learning, and that an AI only works with the information people give during the learning process.
